How Great Thou Art!
Eugene Brush

As we have seen pictures from space of the earth, it looks beautiful but seeing the land mass is difficult. No use trying to see what is on that mass. Millions and billions of creatures live there, which includes man. “God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’” (Genesis 1:28). This is the authority given to man, so why does man think so highly of himself? Why does man attempt to put himself on the same level as the Lord God? He was created to be a servant, to take care of that little area to which he was assigned. Man was given only enough abilities to take care of these duties. Thus there are things around us that are beyond our understanding, such as the force we call gravity.

“The earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” (Genesis 1:2). To me it seems that gravity is a key element in how God created the heavens and earth. Without it everything would return back to the mass without form. Man knows a little about gravity but nothing compared to the Lord.

There are many forces in this world and we are subject to all of them. The Lord gives us ways to use some of them and ways to avoid some of them. We have to read the instructions that the Lord put forth to help us through and follow them. The Lord know how vulnerable man is and helps us everywhere He can, but He has stipulations.

See that dot at the end of the previous sentence? Let us say that dot represents our universe in relation to the size of paper it is printed on. Pretty small isn’t it? On that dot is our solar system somewhere. Now lets say that dot represents our solar system, our planet is in there somewhere. Can you see it? There are millions of men on it. Now then let that dot represent the earth on which we live. Man is on there somewhere but you have to get close to see him. Now going back to the first dot where is man? I hope this clearly puts man in perspective with the heavens. A humbling experience and that is just the way the Lord wants you to think about it. We are nothing, except to Him.

The Lord who loves us so much comes to our defense because we can not defend ourselves against the forces of our Enemy. God sent His only Son to provide a way for man to come back to Him. The Son died a terrible death at the request of His Father and was given the right to judge man in the final days. Mercy and help is offered to those who accept His Son as their Savior.

Be one of those who goes forward to worship at the feet of the Lord. We all live on the Lord’s footstool. We are only worth the value put upon us by the Lord. We know what the Lord thinks of humility. Be one of those who escape that dot which will disappear at the end.
