Volume 48 Number 1 January 2006
The last few weeks of school are stressful times. Computer projects, papers, and final exams pending make it a constant temptation to fall into one of Satan’s perfect snares; worry.
Worry and stress go hand in hand, and they are nothing new. Worry and stress have been around since Adam and Eve and have fallen into the lap of every human being to ever walk the face of the earth. It is only what we choose to do with worry and stress that can define and mold us.
Worry and stress can tear us apart physically. They can
burden us mentally and emotionally. Lastly, they can deteriorate
our spiritual health. What can we do to weaken and
eliminate worry and stress from our lives, so that we can be
an example to those who are watching us through our trials?
We can pray.
"Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” (Psalms 55:22).
When we pray in a way that is right to God, he sustains us. He strengthens us so we can get through our current situations.
In these days of modern remedies to age-old problems, prayer seems like an ancient and out-dated cure. Man, today, prefers new solutions, such as medications, that often produce more side-effects than actual alleviation. God, however, has provided us with prayer and meditation, in which the side-effects are amazing; Peace, hope, joy, and patience.
"The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.” (Psalms 9:9).
So, as you go through your stressful days, your busy weeks, and your long years, remember that you always have a refuge from this world and a God who will guard your hearts and mind.
"You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble.” (Psalms 32:7).
