Volume 47 Number 12 August 2005
Is the LORD God at home in your house?
Where you dwell with your children and your spouse?
Is He welcome there? Happy? And comfortable with you?
Does he like the things you find to do?
When people drop by, be they friend, be they foe,
Is He joyfully proclaimed, or impossible to know?
Do you keep Him tucked away in the smallest of space?
Or is he beautifully obvious upon every face?
The words that you speak, of a truth, can you trace,
The route of their origin back to God’s grace?
When you rise in the morning greeting dawn’s early light,
Does your heart bless the LORD with all of its might?
When you open your mouth, does praise utter forth?
Or are you just too distracted with your many burdened course?
Is it soccer games, baseball games, PTA, track and field?
Or do you thoughtfully pause, pray, read God’s word and yield?
Do you see your children as a hardship you’re not sure if you
can bear?
Or do your eyes chance upon them, making you smile, and
thank God, as you wonder at them there?
Do you grudgingly, trudgingly, (sigh), go to meeting?
Or do you anticipate joyfully, each brother’s greeting?
Does the LORD’S peace prevail over trouble and strife?
Does He permeate each and every part of your life?
Is your faith alive? Is it strong? Is it real?
Is it the power of God’s Holy Spirit you feel?
Do you with vanity, The Spirit’s fire douse?
Please tell me now, is God really “At Home” In your house?
