Many arguments are the result of two people not listening to each other.
A pair of polemic pugilists can actually be in agreement on a certain
point and still bicker because they haven't even listened to what the
other person is saying. A contentious couple can in fact be on the same
page yet still be arguing over what they think the other person said.
Being "swift to hear" is not just a nice suggestion. (James 1:19)
