If a government representative has religious beliefs of some sort, he or
she is watched very closely by those who demand that person keep their
religious convictions separate from their actions. This is not only
ludicrous, but it is impossible. All of us have certain motives from our
heart that sets our priorities and steer our lives. These motives come
from what we believe-They come from our religion as I discussed in my
earlier article. It is truly impossible for us to keep them separate.
Now, what many who insist on this false demand believe, is that it is
okay for them to impress their belief system upon the rest of us. The
difference is that they do not call it a belief system. The truth is that
they can call it what they will, but they do have a belief system, and
this system is their religion. It is what guides their lives. Their
belief system may demand there is no God, or they may insist on their
beliefs as "facts" regarding the earth or science, but this belief system
is still a religion. As a belief system they are allowing their religion
to influence our culture and our society. The false premise is that they
insist that those who have admitted "religious convictions" not allow
their beliefs to influence public policy while they themselves are
allowed to push their agendas free from the supposed stigma of religion.
With these thoughts in mind-What is wrong with a person who believes a
child is a gift from the Lord who does not wish to allow that same child
to be murdered in the womb? Yes, that person may have religious beliefs
that motivate their judgment, but so does the opposite belief. Why is it
right for another who demands it be a choice to allow murdering that same
child? Aren't their beliefs motivating their convictions? Why is it wrong
for a person who admits a religious belief that believes homosexuality is
an abomination and should be outlawed by a society not be allowed to
affect public policy, but why is it allowed for another person who will
not admit religious beliefs think it a good thing?
Again, the inconsistency arises from a lack of understanding of what
religion is. Religion is a belief system that motivates our priorities
and actions. Our religion may arise from our worship of the Lord of
Heaven, or it may arise from our worship of a false god of wood or stone.
It may arise from our worship of an idea, philosophy, or lifestyle. But
whatever it arises from it is still religion.
Why am I writing these thoughts? I am not trying to change our society
nor am I trying to affect public policy. I only wish for you as true
worshippers of the Lord to not be duped by those in the world who insist
you have no right to make righteous judgments, for you do. This right is
not given by men nor even this country of ours. This right comes from the
Lord of Heaven. The source of the one true and holy religion-The worship
of His Son, Jesus the Christ.
