There is no doubt in the mind of those who read the Bible that Jesus possessed great love in his life and death. But how do we know this to be true? What has sustained such truth in our minds? To ask such questions is to call attention to what Jesus did in His life and in His death. He did the will of his Father. In doing the will of His Father He truly obeyed God.—Hebrews 5:8- 9.
It might be well if Christ's obedience to God really causes us to know He loved, that we ask ourselves, do I love God? We too, can know that we love Him, if we keep His commandments. This is taught repeatedly in the writings of John and others.
Love covers our complete duty to God. Jesus taught this, Matthew 22:37-40. But remember, our love cannot be known without action. That action is found in our full obedience to the will of our Father. In no place will disobedience to Him prove our love. Falling short of complete obedience, or going beyond, is not love. We may say we love Him. But Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."—John 14:15.
